Our Community
Community is at the heart of the Jataka experience
From the families who connect, learn, and grow together here on campus, to the partners and global network who stand alongside us in that work.
For our Families
Making Learning Visible
A closer look at what your child is learning and how they're growing this year. From curriculum conversations to understanding development and behaviour, these sessions help us walk alongside your child together.
Meditation & Connection
This series is built on the belief that adults are on their own learning journeys too. Throughout the year, we welcome genuine Buddhist teachers, author talks, educators, and colleagues from across our global network, bringing perspectives that enrich how we teach and how we think together as a community.
These sessions offer parents and caregivers the chance to sit quietly in meditation and look after themselves. We offer a warm, welcoming space for those joining us to linger over coffee, conversation, and connection.
Guest Speakers
Full Moon Gatherings
Held each full moon, these gatherings mark the rhythm of the lunar calendar. We often host thematic Dharma discussions focused on bringing Buddhist teachings into daily life and family, covering topics like parenting, attachment, and mindfulness. Sometimes we screen a short film, host a teaching, or bring in a specialist speaker for a workshop.
Partnerships
The Fields at Wonderfruit
The Fields at Wonderfruit serves as an extended learning campus for Jataka — an outdoor environment for nature-based learning, contemplative practice, arts, and community gatherings, beyond our own walls. Wonderfruit and Jataka share a commitment to education, the Dharma, environmental stewardship, and creativity.
Wonderfruit's sustainability team is helping us build the systems behind that commitment — guiding our recycling programme, our canteen waste management, and our Rethinkery, where the community can drop off materials like bottle caps, Lego, and egg cartons for students to reuse in their own projects. They're also helping to shape our outdoor classroom as a living environment.

Shambhala Publications
Shambhala Publications has spent decades publishing books on Buddhism, mindfulness, and conscious living from their home in Boulder, Colorado — writing that has shaped this community for years, long before Jataka existed. It’s no surprise then that our connection to Shambhala runs through old friendships and shared teachers.
Shambhala has joined Jataka as a Founding Library Partner, contributing books for children ages 3–11 through their Bala Kids imprint, alongside a collection for our teachers. We look forward to hosting author talks and book club events on campus. [Read more about the partnership]

Philip Huang NYC
Philip Huang designs clothing that merges generations of artisanal knowledge around natural indigo dyeing, and hand-made textiles, with contemporary design. They work directly with the artisans in Sakon Nakhon who keep that knowledge alive. It's the same philosophy we bring to Jataka: honoring tradition while building something for today.
Philip Huang NYC graciously designed our Jataka school uniforms ensuring each piece uses natural indigo dyes and breathable fabrics, in a palette of indigo, blue, white, and yellow. As our students grow older, they'll take part in the process themselves — learning to grow and tend indigo on campus, and dyeing their own graduation shirts by hand.

Alliance for Wisdom Education
Part of a wider movement
The Jataka School is a founding member of Alliance of Wisdom Education (AWE), a global network of schools, educators, and researchers who believe that every child already has the capacity for clear attention, compassion and discernment. Jataka exists to help these qualities grow, and we are not doing it alone.
Through AWE, our teachers learn alongside peers around the world, our approach draws on both time-tested wisdom traditions and current scientific research, and our school serves as a lighthouse, a living model, that others come to learn from.
Together, we are powering a movement to redefine education from what children know to who they become.
