Rooted. Innovative. Playful.

The Jataka School is a deliberately small learning community in Bangkok designed for depth of learning and a changing world.

British curriculum • Research-informed practice • Inquiry-led learning • Multilingual environment

  • An international early years and primary school, opening first with Early Years 1 and Early Years 2.

  • Centrally-located, our conveniently accessible grounds can be found just off Sukhumvit, 400m from BTS Bangchak.

  • Our school prospectus, calendar dates, and admissions process are all available on our Admissions page.

Academic excellence, self-awareness, and cultural understanding are not separate goals, but the natural outcome of a whole child education that integrates Buddhist wisdom with a global outlook.

What brings families to Jataka?

  • Each child’s strengths, interests, and pace are recognised and included in the learning process. Teaching is responsive and adaptive, allowing learning to feel meaningful, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.

  • We nurture a strong sense of regional identity alongside openness to the wider world. Children are encouraged to develop curiosity, respect, and understanding across cultures and perspectives.

  • Languages are part of everyday life at Jataka. Alongside English and Mandarin, all students engage regularly with Thai language and culture, developing fluency through meaningful immersion and lived experience.

  • Through our Distinctively Jataka approach and our partnership with Middle Way Education (USA), we draw on principles of mindfulness, kindness, and awareness in research-led ways that support emotional development, attention, and self-understanding.

  • Our intentionally small classes and close-knit community ensures a warm, respectful, and purposeful school environment, in which every child is truly known, supported, and able to grow with confidence.

  • Sustainability is embedded in daily life—from recycled and local materials in our environment to our organic garden and mindful food practices. Children are encouraged to develop awareness of their relationship with the natural world.

Integrated Meditation

We encourage students to practise pauses—a brief moment of inward reflection—regularly throughout the day. In building a habit of doing so, children generate awareness, and learn to appreciate, listen to, and understand their state of mind, their emotions, and the present moment.

Explorations of Wisdom

Jataka immerses students in the richness of wisdom traditions from across Asia. Through an innovative framework and weekly philosophy sessions, we provide an opportunity for students to explore ideas and to ask those ‘big questions’—with curiosity, dignity, and respect—from multiple perspectives.

Eco-sustainability

From our community recycling centre and our use of local and recycled materials in our architecture to our organic vegetable garden, we not only wish to reduce the footprint we leave on our environment, but also to empower our students, staff, and families, to make more sustainable choices at every stage.

Mindful Nourishment

At Jataka, part of being an environmentally-friendly school means offering nourishing foods and snacks that are grown locally, that bear in mind the interdependence of man and earth, and that celebrate a mindful way of life that minimizes harm in all aspects of existence.

“I hope to centre community in my work, creating a space where both students and adults can playfully inquire into the self and the world around them.”

Our Grounds & Facilities

Naturally rooted in culture and context

Our studios offer exploratory spaces for students to play, to test, to conduct research, and to wonder.

Our beautiful early years and primary facility provides a grounded, culturally-relevant setting for our students in which to learn and play.
